Rude Malaysian?

Customers always right? Or are we?....

I am not going to write about our right as a customer in purchasing, that you can figure things out. But what I am going to share here is about our manner.

Customers always right. Mmmm, yeah. However, does this means that it is okay to be rude to the other person of the opposite side? Is there any given right to say that it's okay to not acknowledge them just because we are paying for it?

I always believe in the power of being courteous to other people. No, I'm not saying that I'm such angelic, I don't get grumpy. How hard is it to say 'thank you' to the waiter that comes and help us clear our table? How hard is it to say "welcome" when the KFC guy give us thanks? Is it okay to buat muka bodoh after the waitress helped to open the door because she saw you struggling with a tray full with meals at the KFC restaurant?

This little stuff, most Malaysian take it for granted. I have to be honest, sometimes I do not see much of "Courteous Malaysians" here. I am not saying that all of us have the bad accused attitude, but majority does. I was in those majority group 3 years back (before I met The Hubby). Courteous for me, happened only when I'm with my family and fellow friends.

Anyway, back to my story. I do not get it when the tourists tell people that Malaysian are courteous. I was in US few months back, and boy I had a shock.

The people in the servicing line were way friendlier than us here. Everyone seem to enjoy their time at every store. And the fact that the cashiers would try to create a small conversation and greet us good night before we leave, it got me feeling that the gap between their business custom and us, are far apart. And same goes to the customers, they were all tolerant and respect each others space. Everyone is treated equally.

Whereas here? I can always feel someone's breathe at my neck almost everytime I queue up for anything. Come on! Stop being a kiasu already. No one is ever going to cut your line if you move back 2 steps.

Maybe.... fine. Maybe we are not ready yet to be too friendly to the cashier boy who's standing behind the counter taking our order. But why the frown? A little smile won't hurt. It doesn't matter if it's a 5 star restaurant or kedai runcit Ah Kau, so what if he won't smile back? What is there to do if he had 7 frowny customers before you. He deserves a little boost for the day, and that can come from you.

I know this entry is all fumbled with words. It's been a while since I last blog and I apologise. This coming weekday is going to be a very busy day for me and my colleagues as my lab is going to go through ISO audit. Wish us luck!

And oh! Start the "thank you" and give space to the person in front of you while queuing up for anything. Our comfort zone for Malaysian ( Data source from an ex- UN negotiator) is 3 feet. I want my own zone.

Falling Slowly...

I just don't understand some people in friendlist of my Facebook account. They added me into their list at the first place. (They're the one who added me) and then they block me from viewing their page, yet I'm in the list. What's the purpose of doing as such to me? Just so their list number of friends grow? ...that's not a kind thing to do, you know.... Especially when you do that to someone with a super sensitive emotional side like me..I can get easily upset and lament about this for days, and they did this to me.........

And what's the problem with that colleague of mine? all i wanted was to borrow few documents, for my reference but that colleague gave me this dufus (at the same time really cynical) look and told me it's still being used (FULL STOP) ... I stood there like a dungu for a minute or two, waiting for that colleague to say something to assure me the documents will be passed up to me afterwards, but that colleague just ignored me big time!.... I felt so humiliated. I smiled (hurtful) and took off from that colleague's cubicle.

So(?) I'm having difficulties to work alone. They always left me alone. Left me to do my work alone. They always look down on me, when I in fact held a slightly higher position than them.(which I'm never proud of). I can't do inspection to schools and factories alone. But for the sake of me, I went.

So(?) I'm not like that colleague who used to do the fieldwork alone. That colleague could easily got away with working alone because that colleague held a power in an enforcement card. Plus that person has the advantage as that colleague is a local here with local dialect lango. I can't do that. The industries does not has any respect for me. I tried, you see. I really did. Most of the time, I was almost invisible to them.

It's not like I couldn't accept any mock or something. I've been through much more worse. How would you feel if someone told you that you're a disgrace to this state, for something that you didn't do? I've been through so much. My heart has been left with so many scars, which is why I don't need any new scar as for now.

So(?) I complain... So(?) I lament ... So??? Some may think that I'm not a good friend( or maybe even a good person), but those who really really knows me will know that I'd do anything to make my friends happy. That I'll be happy and appreciated just to see them smiling back at me. That I'll do anything to help my friend them.... So? I have some temper..who doesn't? But so far I've been hiding it pretty well in front of others.I've been helding myself way too much only to give way for others to see less of me...

Does this makes me a hypocrite? Not at all....

To those some people :I smiled because I thought you might need someone to smile at you. But it hurts real bad when you replied me with a jeer glance.
